Important information

 

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Effexor at once as posible. You shouldn’t take extra drug to make up the missed dose of Effexor.

You should avoid while taking this drug  

Don’t drink alcohol,if you take Effexor, because alcohol can increase side effects of this drug.   Very important to know that this drug  may impair your reactions and thinking . Be careful if you drive a car, after take Effexor

Overdose

Call at once your doctor!!!    Symptoms of overdosemay include fast heart rate,vomiting,  blurred vision,seizure or extreme drowsiness.

Before taking Effexor

You should not take this drug if you have any allergic reaction to desvenlafaxine (Pristiq),venlafaxin, or if you are also using MAOI (a monoamine oxidase inhibitor) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), rasagiline (Azilect), furazolidone (Furoxone), phenelzine (Nardil) or tranylcypromine (Parnate) or selegiline (Emsam, Eldepryl ).   Do not take this drug together with desvenlafaxine (Pristiq).

And also consult with health care provider if you have the next problems, such as:

• manic depression;

• blood clotting disorder  ;

• liver disease (cirrhosis);

• high blood pressure;

• kidney disease;

• seizures or epilepsy ;

• glaucoma;

• if you are switching to this drug from another antidepressant;

• high cholesterol;

•bleeding

• if you have a low levels of sodium in your blood.

Effexor with other drugs

Call your health care provider if you take or want to take the next drugs:

• ketoconazole (Nizoral);

• warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven);

• linezolid (Zyvox);

• lithium (LithoBid,Eskalith);

• zolmitriptan (Zomig), frovatriptan (Frova), almotriptan (Axert), naratriptan (Amerge), sumatriptan (Imitrex), rizatriptan (Maxalt).

• cimetidine (Tagamet HB,Tagamet );

• tramadol (Ultracet, Ultram);

• risperidone (Risperdal) or haloperidol (Haldol);

• tryptophan (sometimes called L-tryptophan);

• any other antidepressant.

 

Side effects

Very important call your doctor at once, if you have new symptoms or allergic reaction. Worsening symptoms may be the next: behavior changes, panic attacks,if you have thoughts about  hurting yourself,anxiety, trouble sleeping, or if you feel irritable,impulsive, hostile,agitated,  hyperactive (physically or mentally ), restless,  aggressive, more depressed.

Side effects:

• convulsions;

• very stiff (rigid) muscles,feeling like you might pass out, confusion,  sweating,uneven or fast   heartbeats, tremors, high fever;

• agitation, fast heart rate,  fever,  nausea,overactive reflexes, vomiting, loss of coordination, chest tightness;

• headache, trouble concentrating, memory problems, weakness, feeling unsteady,confusion,  hallucinations, fainting  or breathing that stops or shallow breathing;

• trouble breathing, cough; or

• easy bruising.
